Xiaomi rolls out OTA system update to fix Mi 4i heating issues

Xiaomi Mi 4i has been plagued with overheating issues ever since it was launched last month, and company has been receiving negative feedback on the same. To solve the heating issues on Xiaomi Mi 4i, the Chinese company has now started rolling out MIUI v6.5.5.0 update. Last week Xiaomi released MIUI v6.5.4.0 update to counter heating problem, however, it did just the opposite and company had to roll back the update to control any further damage.

Xiaomi’s Vice President of International Operations, Hugo Barra, addressed Mi 4i fans on Facebook and posted that,

“Today we began an over-the-air system update of MIUI v6.5.5.0 for Mi 4i users. This is our first major update for the Mi 4i since its launch last month, incorporating feedback from many early Mi 4i users with a number of bug fixes and optimizations.”

The new thermal controls rolled out with MIUI v6.5.5.0 update will adjust frequency, voltage and the number of cores in use depending on the chipset temperature. The update will be over-the-air or OTA and should probably reach to all the Mi 4i users by the end of this week.

If you want to buy a Xiaomi Mi 4i then Flipkart is now offering the device without any prior registration in open sale. The device is the latest offering from Xiaomi to enter Indian market and has been priced at Rs. 12,999.

On the specification front, Mi 4i boasts of 5-inch HD display, pixel density of 441 ppi, Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor, 2 GB RAM, 16 GB ROM, 16-megapixel rear camera with dual tone flash, 5-megapixel front-facing camera, runs Android 5.0 Lollipop based MIUI 6,  a 3,120 mAh battery and dual SIM support.
