Motorola today announced that it will be manufacturing Moto 360 smartwatches based on Google’s Android Wear Smartwatch SDK, which basically is Android customized to suit smartwatches. Motorola was one of the first hardware partner for Google’s Android smartwatch and that is no surprise considering Motorola Mobility was part of Google Inc. till recently. Motorola on Tuesday confirmed this development in a blog post on it’s official blog. Motorola is not the first company to use Android Wear, earlier Samsung had used it in it’s famous smartwatch Galaxy Gear which came bundled with Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and LG used it in it’s G watch. Motorola had in February announced it’s plan to manufacture a smartwatch at Mobile World Congress. Moto 360 has a round face and features “Ok Google” voice control which is made noticeable by Google for it’s Android wear for smartwatch SDK.
Motorola wants to revolutionize the good old wristwatch with the launch of Moto 360 smartwatch. Motorola has ensured that your wristwatch looks and feels great and gives you the information you need, when you need it. Company feels that over a history of 100 years wristwatch has transformed in various ways from mechanical to electronic movements, analog to digital faces, it has been reinvented several times over, but the basic design has endured for a century because of its elegance and usefulness ‘at a glance.’
Moto 360 would probably go on sale from this summer starting with U.S. markets. This smartwatch exactly looks like a wristwatch and company boasts of using premium materials to build Moto 360 smartwatch.
“Moto 360 keeps you on time and up to date without taking you out of the moment or distracting you, telling you what you need to know before you know you need it through subtle alerts and notifications. With just a twist of the wrist you can see who’s emailing or calling, what time your next meeting is or a friend’s latest social post. ” company said in a blog post.
One of the most useful and cool feature of Moto 360 is that it responds to your voice. Just say “Ok Google” and ask any question like who won the recent cricket match, send a text message, setting an alarm or writing a small note, it’s all done with your voice command.
