It has been almost 3 weeks since Motorola India twitter handle announced in all exuberance that all the 3 Moto devices i.e. Moto X, G and E will soon receive the latest Android KitKat v4.4.4. Since that day I started checking my Moto X for KitKat 4.4.4 update at least twice a day and to dismay never saw that update screen. First of all Moto E got this latest Android update and later last week Moto G started received it. But today while fiddling with my phone I again gathered courage to check for update and much to my surprise that coveted update window was there!
I instantly took a screenshot which I have attached below and hit the “Yes I’m in” button. The Android Kitkat 4.4.4 download package size is 147.9 MB and initially it may take some time to download even on a high speed connection due to overload on Motorola servers.
It must be noted here that intermediate Android Kitkat 4.4.3 update that was pushed to U.S. Moto devices never reached Indian shores and now Motorola has bundled all those 4.4.3 changes along with the KitKat 4.4.4. To download this update follow the path Settings>>About Phone>>System Updates. Beware that once the software package starts to install never switch off or turn off your internet connection as it may corrupt the existing Android OS on your device.
Some of the new changes that you will get in Android Kitkat 4.4.4 update are improved camera image quality, updated phone dialler application, Motorola Alert app gets activated, pause video recording and improved Network and WiFi reception. Along with these updates KitKat 4.4.4 also addresses the issues with Open SSL protocol which was at the center of Heartbleed bug and hence KitKat 4.4.4 is basically a security update.
