It has been a long and frustrating experience for Moto X 2013 users, waiting for their device’s turn to get the Android Lollipop update. Moto X (1st Gen) owners were promised with Android 5.0 Lollipop update, but now Motorola will go one step ahead and instead roll out the latest Android 5.1 Lollipop to original Moto X.
Motorola has recently revealed that it is working diligently to deliver the update to originial Moto X, and we should expect it within next few weeks. Other Moto devices in line for upgrade from Kitkat to Lollipop are Moto E (1st Gen), Moto G (1st Gen) and Moto G 4G.It is good on part of Motorola, that they realized its of no use to deliver Android 5.0 Lollipop to Moto X 2013, since the newer Android 5.1 Lollipop comes with lots of bug fixes and improvements. No doubt it is a good news, however, few weeks may even mean a month or two, so you need to be patient.
This update was shared by David Schuster, Motorola’s product manager, on his Google+ profile where he notes that the delay in Moto X 2013 Lollipop update was caused primarily due to lack of support from some of the Motorola partners. He further adds that Motorola has already started soak test in the US and Latin America, and we should expect full roll out on Moto X 2013 within next few weeks.
In the meantime you can also check manually for the updates following the path Settings>>About Phone>>System updates. You should also keep the Motorola Update Services app updated all the time, as it will launch the update notification as and when it is available.
