Well whenever we think of devices getting OS updates some top names flash into our minds like Motorola, Samsung, HTC etc. However this time around LG has surprised us with Android Kitkat 4.4 update for it’s LG Optimus G in Estonia and it is very likely to be carried forward world wide in the days to come. LG Optimus G was launched in 2012 with Android Ice Cream 4.0 and it was LG’s flagship device at that time. LG later on delivered an Android Jelly Bean 4.1 update but no one ever imagined it getting a Kitkat Update.
With this move LG is trying to place itself with big contenders like Samsung, Motorola, Sony and HTC and well why not lately they have come out with some brilliant devices like LG G flex. So certainly LG is trying to flex it’s muscles this way.
It’s a no surprise that LG Optimus G is nothing but Google Nexus 4 which already has received a Kitkat update. With this LG Optimus G is standing at par with likes of Moto X, Nexus 5 (which comes packed with Android Kitkat 4.4) and Nexus 4 later three being Google phones.
With the launch of Android Kitkat 4.4 Google has started supplying part of the OS code to manufacturers which in turn could start weaving their skins or UI’s on top of the latest Android version. What it essentially means is that you will be getting faster Android updates in the future.
