Samsung is on a gaming spree these days. Barely a week before they came out with Gamepad and Mobile Console app and now they have unveiled Special Game Edition of the popular Samsung Galaxy Tab 3. This special Tab 3 8.0 game edition comes bundled with Game Pad console and an HDMI adapter. That is fine, however the GamePad can only hold up smartphones or tabs ranging between the screen size of 4 to 6.3 inch and as we know Galaxy Tab has a 7 inch screen. So clearly this whole package is meant for those who plan to play games on their huge TV screens by connecting Galaxy Tab 3 through HDMI cable via HDMI adapter.
This news was first reported by a German blog and at the time of writing this blog post there has not been any official word from Samsung on this. Samsung see a lot of opportunity in tablet and smartphone gaming as more and more people shun their feature phones for them and spend most of their idle time on these devices. So in a nutshell people are looking up to their smartphones, phablets and tablets for serious and mature gaming.
One thing that surprises us here is that Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 is not a performance monster and is powered by a dual core cortex A9 processor and a Mali 400 GPU for rendering graphics. That translates to an under performing hardware for hardcore gaming. At the best you can play some casual games on it. So if you are are hardcore gamer then prefer to buy Gamepad standalone and pair it with some top of the line flagship device like Samsung Galaxy S4 or HTC One etc. You may also go for more powerful tablets like Google Nexus 7 or for that matter a cheaper Xolo Play Tegra Note for a smoother and faster gaming experience.
Apart from that Samsung is about to launch more powerful successor of Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 early next year.
