Apple thinks it can sell it’s 4 generation old iPhone 4 in India and that too at a price point of 23,000 if reports are to be believed. What’s more they might even throw in a buy back scheme so you also have to give your current smartphone plus 23,000 to own this old piece of hardware known as iPhone 4. Apple iPhone 4 was launched in 2010 and company thinks it can successfully relaunch it in Indian market to boost it’s sagging demand. Apple is quite sure of it’s success as it’s buy back plans have performed wonderfully well in the past.
Earlier there was a Economic Times report that Cupertino based tech giant is planning to sell iPhone 4 (8 GB) for around Rs. 15,000 but Apple we know will never sell it’s product this cheap. But according to a latest report from tech website TechCrunch iPhone 4 may be relaunched in India at a price point of Rs. 23000.
This may have been a different thing altogether at a price point of 15,000 as iPhone 4’s configuration stands a good chance against those budget phones but 23,000 makes it stand against likes of Samsung Galaxy Grand 2, HTC Desire 600, Nokia Lumia 1320 etc and put in some 5-6k more you may land up with Google’s Nexus 5.
When at the same price point competition is offering faster phones with latest OS and features, why would some sane person buy iPhone 4? Until and unless he is a die hard Apple fan who can’t afford a 4S,5S or a 5C.
At Rs. 23,000 iPhone 4 doesn’t carry the value for money proposition as it is outdated both in terms of hardware(3.5 inch screen) as well as software (with stripped iOS7). But Apple thinks other way round and is quite sure that iPhone 4 relaunch in India will be a success. We keep our fingers crossed.
