When Android One range of affordable smartphones were released last year, Google made it clear that these devices will be one of the first to receive any future Android OS updates. While announcing the roll out of Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to Nexus devices, Google reiterated that it will soon be rolled out to Android One devices as well.
It seems that Google has kept up its words, as a number of users have reported receiving Android 6.0 Marshmallow OTA update on Android One smartphones. Google has still not made any official announcement to confirm the commencement official roll out.
If online rumors are to be believed, then the first generation Android One handsets have already started receiving the update. As per a recent GSMArena report, the Micromax Canvas A1, Karbonn Sparkle V, and Spice Dream Uno have started getting notifications for the update.
Google has not given any definite time frame for the Android 6.0 Marshmallow OTA update across Android One platform, but if one is eager to upgrade before official OTA update hits their smartphone, then XDA Developer forum has OTA update files for Karbon Sparkle V, Micromax Canvas A1 and many more.
You can now flash (manual install) your Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 9 WiFi, Nexus 9 Cellular, Nexus WiFi (2013) and Nexus Cellular (2013) with factory image of Android 6.0 Marshmallow, which was released by Google earlier this week.
Other leading Android OEM’s such as HTC, Samsung and Sony have also chalked out their Android Marshmallow roll out plans and recently a roll out road map was also leaked on the internet.
