According to recent reports, Motorola may soon roll out Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update to majority of its smartphone lineup including Moto X(2013), Moto X(2014), Moto G(2013), Moto G(2014), Moto E(1st & 2nd gen) and Moto E 4G LTE (2nd gen) soon. This update is seen as last major update before Android 6.0 Marshmallow finally takes over Android smartphone world.
Motorola may also release the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update to other smartphone and tablet lineup, but the timing of updates is still unknown. This new update tries to fix bugs and bring improvements.
Some other Moto smartphones expected to receive the new update includes DROID Mini, DROID Maxx, DROID Ultra, DROID Turbo, Moto Maxx/Turbo, Moto X Pro as per the Gospel Herald. Moto X Style and Moto X Play are expected to be shipped with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.
The Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update will bring in support for fingerprint sensor, USB-type, bug fixes and support for new Android Pay. It is also expected to bring in more themes and better materialistic design aided with fluid animations.
The Android 5.0 Lollipop was first released in June 2014 and ever since has received many updates to address issues such as improving material design and looks. Google is soon expected to come out with Android 6.0 Marshmallow, and this leaves operators and smartphone companies with little or no time to roll out Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.
