Xiaomi’s next flagship device Mi 5’s specifications and features have been leaked via Mobile-Dad blog. As per the leak, the new flagship from Xiaomi’s will be launched in November, and will boast of Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC, 4GB of RAM and a ultrasound fingerprint scanner.
Xiaomi launched its previous flagship device Mi 4 in July last year, and it was assumed earlier that its successor Mi 5 will follow the same timeline. However, the Mi 5 launch has been pushed ahead by almost 6 months owing to many reasons like recent launch of top notch phones like Mi Note and Note Pro, as well as availability of Snapdragon 820 chipset in second half of 2015.
The leak also points out that Mi 5 will flaunt a bigger 5.5-inch as opposed to 5-inch fitted in its predecessor Mi 4. The smartphone is also expected to move to a better quad HD display (1440×2560 pixels) from Mi 4’s full HD display. Mi 5 is expected to feature a massive 4GB of RAM which is also found on recently launched Asus Zenfone 2.
As per the reports on Mobile-dad, the Mi 5 will feature a 16-megapixel rear camera with OIS (Optical Image Stabilisation). Apart from that, if you are a video chat or selfie addict then an 8-megapixel front-facing snapper will definitely please you. There will be two storage variants i.e. 16 GB and a 64 GB.
The USP of the upcoming Xiaomi Mi 5 will be its unique fingerprint scanner, dubbed as Sense ID. This sensor works on ultrasound technology, unlike the optical fingerprint scanners found on iPhone 6 and Samsung Galaxy S6. As per GSM Arena, the ultrasound technology is more robust and can verify finger prints with even water or dirt.
The Xiaomi Mi 5 will probably come with a 3,000 mAh battery and will run Android 5.1 Lollipop with Xiaomi’s proprietary MIUI 7 layered on top of it.
