Xiaomi Mi4 to be launched tomorrow: specifications and more

Xiaomi Mi4 has managed to generate enough heat in the smartphone world with a series of specs and photo leaks! Till few hours ago leaked specifications speculated about a metallic back panel, however Xiaomi VP and Co-Founder, Li Wanqiang put an end to all the speculation using his Weibo Account “The new product is indeed uses a lot of metal, but no for the purpose of metal back cover”.

Xiaomi which is touted as “Apple of China” will reveal the Mi4 at “The Journey of a Piece of Steel” launch event on Tuesday. Xiaomi Mi4 which is successor of Xiaomi Mi3 has received lot of attention lately, thanks to series of image leaks. These leaked images show a back panel resembling a metallic structure and this rumor has been thoroughly rejected by the company top management. Incidentally Xiaomi Mi4 has been listed on some of the third party online retailers for $499 and expected to show strong demand from customers.

Some of the sources who have personally handled the device also confirm that Mi4 does not have a metal back panel. Whatever the case the Mi4 has got an impressive specs sheet to boast of and going by Xiaomi’s track record it will most probably be a value for money proposition. According to a new leak the specs of Xiaomi’s latest flagship goes like this 5.5-inch IPS full-HD display (pixel density of 401 ppi); 2.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 SoC; Adreno 330 GPU; Android 4.4 garnished with Xiaomi’s MIUI Ver 6; 3GB of RAM; 16GB of inbuilt storage; 13-megapixel auto focus rear camera with CMOS sensor; 8-megapixel front camera, and 3,050 mAh battery.

Some of the earlier leaks however predicted a 5.5 inch QuadHD display for Mi4 at 1440×2560 pixels resolution and a pixel density of 534 ppi; 32GB of inbuilt storage; 16-megapixel OIS rear camera; 5-megapixel front camera, MIUI ver 5 based on Android 4.4, and 3200mAh battery. Incidentally Xiaomi Mi4 is the successor of Mi3 which will also go on sale tomorrow in India. Who knows Xiaomi may also surprise Indian fans with simultaneous launch date announcement of Mi4!
