Will my device get Android 5.0 Lollipop update?

So finally the latest version of Android operating system is here and most of us are wondering if our own device is going to receive it or not? If you are lucky enough to lay your hands on latest Nexus device then you will get the Android Lollipop pre-installed on them. But if you are one like me with 1st generation Moto X or for that matter any other android powered device then you need to go through our exhaustive list of smartphones destined to get Android Lollipop in next couple of weeks!

The list we are about to share below will act as a sort of master list for devices getting latest android version any time soon. Don’t worry we will keep updating this list as and when any new device gets an Android Lollipop update. Just in case you know any device which has received Lollipop update but did not feature in our list then please let us know. Samsung

Samsung has remained tight lipped about any update on its smartphones. Recently a preview build was leaked which shows Android Lollipop on Samsung Galaxy S5 and is the only hint available.

Google Nexus

Google recently released Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 and subsequently confirmed that all smartphones and tablets from Nexus 4 and above will be getting the Android 5.0 Lollipop update. One of the updates suggests that OTA update will be available for Nexus devices starting 3rd of November, 2014. Nexus 6 and 9 would be shipped with latest version of Android on board.

Motorola

Motorola always closely follows Nexus devices when it comes to Android updates, but we don’t have exact timeline for the delivery of Lollipop update. In mid August Motorola executive confirmed the Android L update on 1st gen Moto X. As of writing this article all the latest Moto devices will be supplied with Lollipop update. These Moto devices below have been officially confirmed by company.

  • Moto G (1st Gen. & 2nd Gen.)
  • Moto G with 4G LTE
  • Moto E
  • Droid Ultra, Droid Maxx, and Droid Mini

LG

Very much like Samsung, LG has also remained mum on future Android updates to be delivered on its range of smartphones. Though some reliable sources claim that  LG G3 is in line for receiving the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop update any time soon. LG G2 has been confirmed to receive Lollipop update.

HTC

HTC has always been up front on providing android update schedule on its range of smartphones. Earlier HTC had announced that it will push the Android Lollipop update to its smartphones within 90 days of Google having launched it. If we go by 90 day period then HTC devices should be getting Android 5.0 update well before the year ends. Below is the list of HTC devices getting Lollipop update soon.

Sony

If you own any of the Sony Xperia Z range of devices then you are good to go as far as Lollipop update is concerned. Sony recently announced that it will bring Android 5.0 update to all of its Xperia Z series, not just the flagships. Sony Xperia Z Ultra, Z1, Z1 Compact & Z3 Dual gets Android Lollipop update

One Plus

With just a single device to support One Plus will deliver the CyanogenMod based on Android Lollipop within next 90 days.

Android One Range

Android One, the affordable smartphone for emerging markets has already been launched in India and Google recently claimed that it will supply these devices with Android Lollipop update soon. The three Android One devices are as listed below:

  • Karbonn Sparkle V
  • Micromax Canvas A1
  • Spice Dream Uno

Micromax

This Indian smartphone company has finally started paying heed to its existing smartphones. In February, it rolled out Lollipop update for its Canvas series of smartphones starting with Canvas Xpress A99. Micromax Unite 2 will start getting the Lollipop update from April 7th onwards.
