Sony has introduced its Xperia A4 smartphone exclusively in Japan, in partnership with leading telecom operator NTT Docomo. It is a mid-range device with decent specifications and there is no information on its price yet. Xperia A4 has been designed exclusively for Japanese market and is unlikely to appear anywhere else.
This smartphone appears to be Z3 compact in disguise, as it has looks similar and has top notch specs. The smartphone features a 4.6-inch HD IPS LCD (720x1280p) Triluminos display with X-Reality engine. It would be available in Grey, Pink, Blue and White color options and measures 128x66x9.1mm, weights 129 g.Under the hood, we have a 2.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 SoC with 2 GB RAM and Adreno 330 GPU. It runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop and comes along with 16 GB of internal storage and another 128 GB of external memory could be installed via microSD card.
Just like most of the recent Sony flagships, the Xperia A4 also is a waterproof and dust proof phone, all thanks to IP65/IP68 ratings. It packs a 2,600 mAh battery. Coming to the camera, it features a 20.7-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and Exmor RS sensor apart from a 2.2-megapixel front facing camera, on the lines of Zperia Z3 and Z3 compact.
The Sony Xperia A4 comes with 4G LTE support along with other connectivity features like Wi-Fi, FM radio with RDS, Bluetooth 4.0, GPRS/ EDGE, A-GPS, 3G, 4G LTE, 3.5mm audio jack, and Micro-USB. It is currently up for pre-orders on NTT Docomo website and will start shipping from mid of next month. Till now neither Sony nor NTT Docomo has announced the price of Sony Xperia A4
