Philips back in Indian mobile market with 4 new mobile phones

Philips Mobile has re-entered Indian mobile phone market with launch of 3 new smartphones and a feature phone. Philips wants to attract tech enthusiasts and professionals to its new range of mobile phones that includes 3 smartphones namely W6610, W3500, S308 and also a feature phone E130. The price of these devices start at Rs. 1,960 and goes up to as much as 35,000. The W6610 is priced at Rs. 20,650, the W3500 at Rs. 16,195, S308 at Rs. 8,290 and E130  at Rs. 1,960.

“Philips mobile phones are designed with best-in-class battery performance, advanced yet user-friendly features and an elegant form factor, so customers can stay connected with what matters most – always” company said in a statement. Philips had an unsuccessful stint in Indian smartphone market during early 2000’s when it primarily used to sell feature phones. Philips is betting big time on bulging Indian smartphone market and is aiming to be among top 6 smartphone manufacturers by this year end.Philips W6610 S308 E130

Philips will soon launch their top of the line flagship device I928, which is a six-inch phablet featuring the latest Android 4.4.2 Kitkat operating system, octacore 1.7 GHz processor. It will boast of a 13 megapixel rear camera and a front facing 5 megapixel camera. I928 will most probably be priced at around Rs. 35,000. Philips has partnered with distributor Redington to distribute its product while Accel Frontline will take care of after sales service.

The first smartphone of this series W6610 has a 5 inch qHD IPS display and has a mammoth 5,300 mAh battery. What’s more it has built in power saving switch and can deliver a talk time up to 33 hours and web browsing sessions of up to 16 hours. Philips W6610 is powered by a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor and it also boasts of fast charging feature.

The Philips W3500 runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS and is a dual SIM dual standby device. It is powered up by a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor coupled with 1 GB of RAM and has a 5 inch FWVGA TFT display(854×480 pixel resolution) which translates to a pixel density of 196 ppi. Philips W3500 has a 5 megapixel rear camera and a 2 megapixel front facing camera.

The third smartphone Philips S308 boasts of a curved design and makes it fit really well in your hands. It runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and supports dual SIM dual standby functionality. This device is powered by a 1 GHz dual core MediaTek processor paired with a 512 MB RAM and has 4 GB of on board storage which can be expanded up to 32 GB. It has a 4 inch capacitive touchscreen (480×800 pixels resolution). A 5 megapixel camera at the back side takes care of your photography needs.

On the other hand Philips E130 is an affordable feature phone which offers dual SIM feature, along with a built in MP3 player and FM radio. It also offers Bluetooth connectivity, a 3.5 mm audio jack and also a torch light for use during emergencies. Its memory can be expanded up to 32 GB using an external microSD card.
