Nokia has started rolling out over the air (OTA) software update to it’s Asha range of smartphones, more specifically Asha 230, Asha 502, Asha 500, Asha 501 and Asha 503. The latest Asha version 1.4 update has been pushed by Nokia with new features like MixRadio, Panorama mode, Voice guided selfie and access to Microsoft OneDrive online storage. So in a nutshell this update brings in a lot of new functionality and improvements in Asha range of smartphones.
One of the most important feature to come with this update is Nokia’s free and personalized music streaming service, MixRadio. Simply put, it allows you to listen to your favorite music on the go even if you are offline. This is achieved by downloading a copy of your playlist on your device. MixRadio is already available on Nokia’s Asha 500, Asha 502 and Asha 503 smartphones. What’s more! you get a full 7 GB of cloud storage on Microsoft’s own cloud storage service OneDrive. With Microsoft OneDrive you can automatically or manually transfer you stuff directly from your Asha smartphone.
This recent Asha software platform update also brings in host of camera improvements like panorama view and voice guided selfies. Both of these camera features are found in high end devices, but we need to see how good these features work on Asha smartphones. Voice Guided selfie feature will allow you to click pictures with help of your voice commands.
This update also packs in a power saver mode functionality which basically helps you save the battery juice when required. There are other improvements like increased video stabilization and parental control over web browser and Nokia Store.
If you own any of these Asha smartphones and haven’t received any notification for this update then we recommend you to go to “Phone Settings” and then “Phone Updates” section and from there update your phone manually.
