Motorola finally launched it’s Moto G smartphone which is said to be latest on technology and comes at one third the price of any leading smartphone. Moto G is basically targeted for the budget conscious customers and it’s 8 GB version is priced at $179 without contract while the 16 GB version is up for grabs at $199.
Motorola which is owned by Google Inc. is planning to sell this smartphone around the world to around 500 million people. Most of these 500 million target audience reside in developing nations like India, Peru, Brazil etc. Most of them can’t afford to shell out more then $200 for a smartphone and this is where Motorola wants to chip in. These budget conscious customers till now have to use either old technology or other phones from local vendors.
The biggest surprise is that this phone won’t be launched in China as Govt has put some restrictions on some of the google services. “Our ability to compete there is a bit constrained,” said Dennis Woodside, Motorola’s chief executive, in an interview. “Moto G won’t be offered in China, initially at least.”
Moto G also follows the customization platform similar to Moto X and comes with a 4.5 inch screen. It has nice design and although it’s not one of the top notch devices out there but it is a good option for people seeking value for money.
The 4.5 inch screen is capable of displaying HD videos at 720 p and has a pixel density of 329 ppi which is better then 326 ppi in the latest iPhone5 but falls way short of 441 ppi found in Samsung Galaxy S4.
Moto G comes loaded with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor with 1.2 GHz quad-core CPU and is powered by recent Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean). It has a 5 megapixel rear camera which is equipped with LED flash and 4X digital zoom. It comes with built in 2070 mAh battery which as per company’s claims will last upto 24 hours of mixed usage.
