The new Moto G 2014 has already been treated with Android 5.0 Lollipop update in select locations and Motorola may very soon roll out Lollipop update on Moto G first gen. for Indian market if reports doing the rounds are true. Motorola recently started inviting users for soak test of the Lollipop update in India and simultaneously updated the Motorola Update Services in Google Play Store, which will be mandatory for such an update.
The so called soak test can go live anytime within next couple of days and if everything falls in its place then company will release the update for every Indian Moto G (first gen) user. Motorola hasn’t confirmed any date yet, but we expect it to be rolled out before this year ends (fingers crossed).
If you want the Lollipop update in time then make sure that your Motorola Update Services has itself been updated. The update notification will be displayed as soon as Motorola begins the official roll out on Indian Moto G (first gen). Don’t expect the update to be delivered in one go but in tranches spread over a period of few days to few weeks
