Micromax Unite 2 to get Android 5.0 Lollipop update from today

Micromax is the most successful Indian smartphone brand, and it has launched number of handsets since its inception. But Unite 2 has been one of its most successful smartphones, with Micromax claiming that it sold around 1.5 million units within a year of officially launching it! Micromax has announced that it will start rolling out Android 5.0 Lollipop update to Unite 2 from today i.e., April 7th on wards.

This will be an over-the-air or OTA update and you will get a notification for the same. Micromax has also made it clear that all the Unite 2 smartphones sold from April 7th on wards will come pre-loaded with Android 5.0 Lollipop OS. Unlike its global counterparts, Micromax hasn’t released any change-log for this update.

Micromax Unite 2 gets Lollipop update

In general, Micromax has started rolling out Lollipop update across its Canvas range of smartphones. Prior to Unite 2, it was Micromax Canvas Xpress A99, which received the Android 5.0 Lollipop update in February. Though the change-log hasn’t been made available by company, one can expect a refreshed user interface inspired by Google’s Material Design. Other features that lollipop update will bring in probably are smoother performance, better notification center, improved battery life and more.

Micromax has not specified as to when the lollipop roll out for Unite 2 will finish. Further software updates don’t seem feasible for this smartphone. Micromax Unite 2 is a unique phone as it supports as much as 20 regional Indian languages. This feature makes it acceptable in a diverse country like India.
