Micromax Unite 2 A106 launched to take on much hyped Moto E

By | May 23, 2014

Micromax India’s second largest mobile company by volume on Thursday launched Micromax Unite 2 A106 to counter the threat posed by much hyped Moto E. Moto E has become a cause of concern for domestic companies like Micromax, Karbonn and Lava as they have a major presence in the entry level smartphone category. Moto E is the Motorola’s attempt at winning back the Indian smartphone market and it has performed really well till now.

Micromax Unite 2 is the first smartphone from company running on Android 4.4.2 Kitkat out of the box. Apart from that, Unite 2 will be the world’s first smartphone to support 21 languages including English and 20 other regional languages like Hindi, Gujarati, Punjabi, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Odia, Bengali, Assamese, Marathi, Nepali, Bodo, Dogri, Konkani, Kashmiri, Maithili, Manipuri, Sanskrit, Sindhi. Micromax has priced Unite 2 quite aggressively at Rs. 6,999 and it is now available at various retail stores across India.

Micromax Unite 2 redMicromax Unite 2 has been powered with 1.3 GHz MediaTek quad core processor which is supported by a 1 GB of RAM. Following Motorola footsteps, Micromax has also assured of delivering Unite 2 with at least one major Android update whenever it is due. Micromax may boast of OTA support for updates but we are not quite sure if they would stick to their promise looking at their track record till date. “India is a diverse country and language at times can act as a barrier for people to seamlessly communicate on their phones. Therefore, we firmly believe that support for local languages on phones will perhaps be the next big driver for day to day phone transactions, internet usage and online content consumption in India given that most of the population does not use English as their primary language,” said Shubhodip Pal, CMO, Micromax.

Unite 2 would be available in four bright colors namely grey, white, red and green. Micromax Unite 2 comes with a 4.7 inch Bright Graph IPS display with a resolution of 800X480 pixels. Moto E offers the similar resolution for a smaller screen size of 4.3 inch which means images would be clearer. Micromax Unite 2 packs a 2,000 mAh battery which we think is a strong point for this smartphone.
