Micromax launches Canvas Win W092 and Canvas Win W121 Windows Phone

By | June 17, 2014

Micromax has entered a territory where no other Indian smartphone company has ever dared to enter. Micromax today launched its very first Windows 8.1 powered smartphones dubbed as Canvas Win W092 and Canvas Win W121. In early April Microsoft showcased prototype devices of India’s Micromax and European player Pretigio running new Windows 8.1 at its Build Conference in San Francisco. Since then it was believed that Micromax will soon launch its first ever Window 8.1 powered devices in India.

Well in another first these Micromax devices will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon processors, instead of the MediaTek chipsets which generally dominate Micromax smartphones. Microsoft’s intent is quite clear here. It wants to hit Android under the belt by providing free Windows license to domestic companies for their budget phones. India is one of the fastest growing smartphone market and majority of its share is cornered by budget Android smartphones. Canvas Win W121 Windows Phone
