Meizu launches its M1 Note Smartphone in India

Chinese smartphone maker Meizu has finally entered Indian market with the launch of its M1 Note smartphone. The phone will get listed on popular online retailer Amazon India at 2 PM from Wednesday. The device will be available freely, without any need of prior registration for flash sale. The company has still not disclosed the price of the Meizu M1 Note.

Like its compatriot Xiaomi, the Meizu is also a company of repute in China with high-end smartphones like like MX4 and MX4 Pro to its credit. Meizu India recently posted a picture from its founder J Wong on its Facebook and Twitter pages to announce its Indian debut.Meizu M1 Note India LaunchMeizu first released the M1 Note in December 2014 in China. This smartphone is primarily targeted at youth, is feature rich and comes in six vibrant colors – Black, White, Green, Yellow, Blue, and Pink. The M1 Note borrows its coloring scheme from Apple iPhone 5C.

The device is basically a phablet as it boasts of a 5.5-inch full HD display with 1080×1920 pixels resolution (403 ppi). Under the hood it has a 64-bit 1.7GHz octa-core Cortex-A53 Mediatek MT6752 processor coupled with 2GB RAM and a Mali T760 GPU.

The Meizu M1 Note comes with dual SIM, dual standby functionality and is also compatible with 4G networks. As far as imaging is concerned, the M1 Note boasts of an 13-megapixel rear camera with minimal shutter lag and another 5-megapixel front-facing shooter.

Unfortunately, the M1 Note runs dated Android Kitkat with Meizu’s proprietary Flyme 4 skin layered on top of it. The Chinese smartphone major has recently opened its India specific social media pages and has been doing aggressive marketing on these platforms by posting reviews from popular media websites as well as holding giveaway contests.

Another smartphone company entering India gives credence to the depth of Indian smartphone market. It will be a pleasure to see how Meizu performs in India and will it be able to give other smartphone makers a run for their money! What do you feel? Please share your opinion.

Update (Wednesday, May 20, 2015): Meizu today started selling its M1 note on Amazon India. However, message at the product page revealed that it was quickly outsold. The message at product page on Amazon India read “Stay Calm & Wait for Meizu. We will be back soon”. The phone got listed at a price of Rs. 11,999.
