LG G Flex now available online: Specification Review and Price

LG’s revolutionary smartphone G Flex which was unveiled in December last year is finally available for sale on some of the online retailers such as Snapdeal, Infibeam and Ebay. Although last year at the time of launch LG promised to make it available in India by February 2014, however LG has not officially revealed either the price or the availability. If we particularly talk about the Snapdeal, they are offering 1 GB of 3G data on Airtel Network and promise to deliver the device to you in 15 days. So all these developments points to the fact that LG is about to officially declare the price and availability of LG G Flex.

LG G Flex was globally launched in October 2013 and Indian fans have been waiting ever since to lay their hands on this revolutionary smartphone. G Flex is one of the few devices worldwide which could boast of a bendable or flexible display and is slightly curved to aid in better viewing and improved voice and sound quality.LG G Flex Smartphone

Operating System:

LG G Flex runs on Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2. A device of this stature needs to run on latest OS and analyst’s believe it should have been shipped with latest Android Kitkat 4.4. An OTA update may be in store for G Flex soon.

Processor:

LG G Flex is powered by a quad-core 2.26GHz Snapdragon 800 (MSM8974) processor with an Adreno 330 GPU, and 2GB of RAM. So, G Flex has enough processing ammo for playing all the heaviest and coolest games in town.

Display:

Display is what makes this smartphone stand apart from the crowd. It’s display is uniquely designed and is curved 6 inch HD screen with a resolution of 1280 x 720. LG claims that the display found in G Flex is the world’s largest Plastic OLED or POLED display and is exclusively designed and mass produced for this device. The POLED display is quite sturdy in nature and it draws it’s strength from OLED panel built on plastic substrates instead of glass. The display features Real RGB technology to provide all three sub-pixels in one pixel, thereby making it “brighter and more precise.”

Camera:

G Flex features a 13 mega pixel auto focus primary (rear) camera with LED Flash that can record full high definition videos (1080p) at 60 frames per second and a 2.1 MP secondary (front-facing camera) for video calls that can also record full HD videos at 30 fps.

Memory:

LG G Flex has on board storage of 32 GB which is not expandable as there is no microSD card slot.

Connectivity Options:

On the connectivity front, the device has Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi (with Wi-Fi Direct), Near Field Communication, 3G and 4G (depending on the region). It also comes with a micro USB port and A-GPS.

Dimension and Color:

The phablet measures 160.5mm x 81.6mm x 8.7mm and weighs 177 gm. It will be available in titan silver colour.

Battery:

The G Flex is powered by a 3,500 mAh battery enough to power it for at least 12 hours of heavy usage and more than 24 hours of mixed usage. One thing to note here is that G Flex’s battery is also curved in shape so that it fits in nicely!

LG G Flex Price in India:

G Flex has been priced steeply at Rs. 69,999 at Snapdeal and Ebay. However it is available tad cheaper on Infibeam for 69,490. However a Mumbai based retailer Mahesh Telecom is selling it for 66,990.

LG G Flex new features:

  • Power and voice control buttons are at the back panel below camera. Reduces the chance of accidentally switch off or increase or decrease the phone’s volume.
  • G Flex boasts of elastic self healing coating on it’s surface which protects it from day to day scratches. You just need to rub it off little on the scratched area and the scratch will vanish in few seconds.
