It has officially been launched at a price point of Rs. 6,550, however on eBay India it has been listed for Rs. 6,349. From the price as well as technical specification point of view, Lava Iris Alfa is a budget offering.

Look wise Lava Iris Alfa somewhat resembles Google Nexus 5, is 9.2 mm thick and weights 156 grams. It runs Android Kitkat 4.4 out of the box and supports dual SIM dual standby functionality. It features a 5-inch IPS display with 480×854 pixels resolution, which produces a pixel density of just 194 ppi.

“With the launch of Lava Iris Alfa we aim to cater to the needs of people who aspire to own a smartphone that looks good and has best in class features at an affordable price. The Lava Iris Alfa smartphone comes equipped with all the necessary features required in a 5″ device to offer consumers a superior smartphone experience.” said Navin Chawla, Vice President and Head Product, Lava International Limited, while commenting on Lava Iris Alfa’s launch.

An unspecified quad-core chipset clocked at 1.2 GHz takes care of the processing needs, alongside 1 GB of RAM. It may be surprising but as per Lava, this smartphone also supports FOTA (firmware over the air), which is generally found in mid-range and flagship smartphones.

The Lava Iris Alfa comes equipped with 8 GB of built-in storage that could further be scaled up using an external microSD card up to 32 GB. It sports a 5-megapixel primary camera with BSI sensor and LED flash, at the front side a 0.3-megapixel VGA camera takes care of video calls and selfies.

It comes power packed with a 2,200 mAh batttery which is rated to deliver a talk time of up to 22.7 hours (impressive!) on 2G networks. Lava Iris Alfa supports connectivity features such as 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Micro-USB, A-GPS, 3.5mm audio jack, and FM radio. It is currently available in Black and White colors.
