Huawei to launch sub Rs. 10,000 4G smartphone within 6 months in India

Huawei, the Chinese electronics major has aims to launch sub Rs. 10,000 4G smartphones in India within next 6 months or so. This should not surprise anyone as launching 4G smartphones in next couple of months would augur well for any smartphone company, given the fact Reliance Jio Infocomm will probably launch its pan India 4G network by mid 2015. Thus going forward Huawei will aggressively go after 4G smartphone market.

“We are largest owner of essential patents for 4G technology. The essential patents are technology required to connect with 4G network. Within 3-6 months, we have plans to launch 4G handsets below Rs 10,000,” Huawei’s Director for Devices Sales P Sanjeev told PTI. What makes the deal all the more sweeter for Huawei is the fact that Airtel and Aircel has already deployed their 4G networks in select location across India. What makes this news all the more important is the fact that Chinese smartphone companies like Huawei, OnePlus, ZTE etc. brings newer technology at affordable prices, thus it may aid in the implementation of digital India initiative of Government of India. A developing nation like India can immensely benefit from technology like 4G, which offers blazing fast data speeds and affordable devices will further aid in faster adoption.

Huawei claims to have filed around 12,000 patents till August 2014 for consumer electronic products and has also entered into cross patent agreements with leading companies such as Ericsson, Nokia, Microsoft, Alcatel Lucent and Qualcomm. “The combination of our own patents and arrangement with other companies has helped us in making devices in affordable price range,” Sanjeev said.

“We sell devices which mostly use our patent technologies. Honor series comes up with our patent power saving technology, Quick Power Control, that save 30 per cent power. Like, if battery has 3000 mAH capacity then with QPC it can provide power back equivalent to that of 4000 mAh,” Sanjeev said.

P. Sanjeev also said that Huawei’s Indian research and development team has contributed immensely to the patent of companies Emotion UI, which is capable of turning smartphone display into glass mirror and learn functions of any remote be it DTH, TV or Car.
