Google announces Nexus 5 phone

Finally today Google came out with it’s much awaited smartphone Nexus 5 and it will be power packed with Androids latest version 4.4 Kitkat. Nexus 5 sports a 4.95″ HD screen, 8 megapixel camera at back and a 1.3 megapixel shooter on the front. Google claims that a full charged Nexus 5 will deliver you a full 7 hours of usage on 4G network. Google in a blog post said that this device is now available in major international markets through Google Play. Soon Nexus 5 will be available in emerging markets like India and China. In United States Nexus 5 will be available with following carriers Sprint, T-Mobile, Amazon, Best Buy and RadioShack.

Customers from U.S., Canada, U.K., Australia, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Japan and Korea can order the unlocked version for $349. As was the case with earlier Nexus devices, this device has been manufactured by LG

“The first thing you’ll notice about KitKat is we’ve made the experience much more engaging: the book you’re reading, the game you’re playing, or the movie you’re watching—now all of these take center stage with the new immersive mode, which automatically hides everything except what you really want to see.” wrote  Android chief Sundar Pichai on Google Blog.

Company boasts of this phone as the slimmest and fastest Nexus phone ever made. Phone’s screen is protected by Gorilla Glass 3. It is powered with the 2.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor , with 2GB RAM. The device will be available in 16 and 32GB versions (with no microSD support) and come in white and black colours.

Nexus 5 sports an 8MP camera on back with optical image stabilization, 1/3.2-inch sensor and f/2.4 aperture. Camera at the back panel is supported with LED flash , while a 1.3MP unit is used in front. Connectivity options consists of 2G, 3G, 4G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and LE, NFC and microUSB. Nexus 5 is Powered by a 2,300mAh battery and has wireless charging.

The Nexus 4 had a glass body, however Nexus 5 sports a plastic shell body with “silky texture”. Power button and volume rocker are made up of ceramic material to give a premium feel.

    8MP camera is let down for Nexus 5. Otherwise it is worth for money as compared to overpriced phones of Samsung, Sony & HTC.

      Yes Ankur,
      you are probably right. In fact most of the flagship devices these days carry at least 13 MP shooter at the back. For ex Micromax Canvas A250 has 13 MP camera at back and 5 MP at front..
