Chinese smartphone maker Gionee has started rolling out Android 4.4.2 Kitkat update to its Elife S5.5 model which is touted as the slimmest smartphone in the world. This update is available as an OTA (over the air) update and can be traced under Setting >>System Updates. The Kitkat update file size is 865.71 MB and it adds new desktop layout and Du speed booster for faster and smoother operation.
This beautiful smartphone from Gionee is very well advertised on T.V. these days and has an excellent specs sheet to boast of. Only thing missing was latest Android OS version which the company decided to compensate for early this month. This octa core smartphone was launched in India in May this year and right now retailing for around Rs. 23,000 (US$400). This update also brings fresh user interface to proprietary Gionee apps as well.
Among other features Gionee Elife S5.5 comes with a metallic body and used to run on Android 4.2.2 garnished with Gionee’s custom UI Amigo 2.0 on top if it. Dubbed as world’s thinnest smartphone it comes equipped with 5 inch full HD Super AMOLED display which generates an impressive pixel density of 441 ppi. It boasts of an Octa-core processor clocked at 1.7 GHz which is coupled with 2GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal memory has been made available.
Gionee Elife S5.5 has 13 megapixel auto focus rear camera while a 5 megapixel snapper sits at the front. The beautiful display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protective layer. It comes power packed with a 2,300 mAh battery which can take you through one day of mixed usage.
