Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer HTC earlier this month launched Desire 310 for Taiwan markets and phone has now been listed on HTC’s official website as well as up for sale on ecommerce website Snapdeal. HTC has not made any official statement in this regard but Snapdeal has promised that it will deliver the handset within 3 days of placing the order.
HTC Desire 310 will compete with likes of Micromax Turbo mini, Xolo Q1100 and Moto G. This device runs on Android Jelly Bean 4.2 out of the box coupled with HTC’s own Blinkfeed and Video Highlights. HTC Desire 310’s dimensions are as follows 131.44 x 68.03 x11.25 mm and it weighs 140 grams. This smartphone supports dual SIM functionality, is dual active and supports regular size SIM’s. HTC Desire 301 features a 4.5 inch FWVGA display with resolution of 480X854 pixels. The Desire 310 is powered buy a MediaTek quad-core CPU which clocked at 1.3 GHz and is paired with a 512 MB RAM. At the same time device has 4 GB of on board storage which is expandable upto 32 GB using an external microSD card. “Everybody today wants a smartphone that can keep up with them, regardless of whether it is a flagship or entry-level model. The latest addition to our renowned Desire range combines super-fast processing and premium features at a lower price, offering users the best possible experience in this category.” Faisal Siddiqui, HTC India Head said on the launch.
Desire 301 has enough battery juice with a 2,000 mAh Lithium Polymer removable battery and will be available in white and black colors. As per company’s claim this battery will deliver a talktime of 11 hours on 3G network while it is capable of standby time of upto 852 hours.
Our Take: Well in emerging markets domestic manufacturers like Micromax, Karbonn, Gionee etc are providing top notch specs at affordable pricing and lately well known companies like Motorola, Nokia and Samsung are trying to tap this budget segment with launch of Moto G nd Nokia X etc. HTC is trying to fit into this budget segment with launch of HTC Desire 301. But specs wise Moto G looks much better with a qualcomm quad core processor, Gorilla Glass and water resistance. Moreover my personal experience with HTC has not been very good. HTC smartphones are too delicate and fragile and usually give in before 2 years of usage.
