Apple iPhone 6 receives a good response in India

Apple’s latest smartphone iPhone 6 and particularly the iPhone 6 plus has received a good response in India. On Friday midnight many Apple fanbois were seen lining up in front of iStores selling the latest version of Apple’s flagship device. Most of these Apple fanbois were waiting for this moment since it was launched in US last month. Indians are known as value for money buyers but iPhone 6 has made them loosen up their purse strings! No wonder they love to show off their expensive possessions.

The 16GB iPhone 6 model is priced at Rs. 53,500, while the 64GB and 128GB variants are priced at Rs. 62,500 and Rs. 71,500, respectively. On a similar note, iPhone 6 Plus 16GB model is priced at Rs. 62,500, while the 64GB is Rs. 71,500, and the 128GB model is Rs. 80,500. At such hefty price points we find Apple products to be highly over prized, considering the fact that a Rs. 9,999 Android smartphone like Moto G can do everything that a iPhone 6 can do (even more) and is almost equally snappy.

Coming back to the topic, people who had pre-booked their iPhone 6 waited patiently outside iPhone stores to get the much awaited device. K.L. Santosh, proprietor of Channel 9, said the mobile store received as many as 175 pre-bookings. “The sale of iPhone6 and iPhone6 Plus began at midnight. There was a crowd of around 90, while we sold 62 pieces. We have run out of stock now and are expecting fresh arrivals on Friday evening,” he said. He also said he had not seen such enthusiasm for any phone earlier. “The trend was favourable and people’s interest in the phone may have spiked following the reviews,” he added.

The scenario was not much different across other iStores in the city.  iStore in Market City Mall, Whitefield, was kept open till 2 a.m. in the morning to cater to eager iPhone fans. “We continue to get many inquiries about the iPhone. We are still taking orders. We have just a few pieces of iPhone6 available and the iPhone6 Plus stock has been exhausted,” Vinod Kumar of iStore, Market City Mall said.

But the black market response this time has remained tepid with many unable to sell brand new iPhone 6 at inflated prices, primarily due to sufficient supplies at iStores. Most of the customers appear to be inclined towards iPhone 6 even after a price cut for iPhone 5S. iPhone 6 is more lucrative primarily due to its bigger 4.7 inch display size, which is something new to Apple fans.
