Whatsapp is one app that has become synonymous with messaging around the world with billions of messages being exchanged on any given day. As your contact list grows so does the amount of messages and conversations, which pile up to accumulate substantial space. What if your smartphone gets infected with a virus? What if it gets stolen? What if it breaks down? In any of the above mentioned scenarios you will end up loosing all your important Whatsapp conversations and messages. Some of these messages may be from your near and dear one’s which you never want to delete from your smartphone. So what to do in order to secure all your Whatsapp conversations? Simple you need to back them up and restore them as and when you need them. We will show you “how to back up and restore whatsapp messages and conversations”.
Luckily Whatsapp developers were aware of this problem when they coded this masterpiece and we have inbuilt options to backup and restore our conversations/files. The process to backup your Whatsapp conversations is breeze, first go to the main/home window where all the conversations are shown. If you look at the top right hand corner you will notice a three dotted icon, now just tap on it and a drop down menu will appear as shown below in the picture. Out of all the options select the fourth one which I have encircled in yellow rectangle.
Once you have selected the “settings” you will be taken to next menu where you need to select “Chat Setting” it will further take you to next menu and here you have to ultimately tap “Backup Conversations”. Once you have securely backed up the conversations now it is time to save it in your PC/USB drive etc.
Now you need to connect your PC/Laptop with your smartphone via USB cable or bluetooth. Once your PC is successfully connected with smartphone straightaway head to Whatsapp/database folder. There you can easily locate the latest backup file with most recent time stamp. Now copy this backup file and store it locally in your computer, USB Pen drive or cloud storage etc.
Now whenever your smartphone goes for a toss you don’t need to worry as you have already created the much needed backup for your Whatsapp conversations. You just need to do the reverse of what we just did. That is copy and paste the backup file in the Whatsapp/database folder and all your old conversations and messages will be back within no time.
